We are trying to look for better ways to manage our store house. We have Inventory Management, and we are an Engineer-to-Order company, so we often have new materials, and sell things by the project. Lots of individual-type materials and not so many collective type materials.
Currently our storehouse has a vertical set of shelves for each project. As parts are received for that project they are placed in that set of shelves. This ends up wasting a lot of space because we don't fill up each set of shelves.
I thought someone in the community might know of a solution within SAP or a third party software that integrates with SAP to help us better use our space. We thought about trying to put bin locations in for each component in the store room, but because we don't make the same component over and over again, that ends up being a lot of work. Each time we consum a component we would need to remove the bin location, and then the next time a similar component was made we would need to find an available bin location and add it.
Does anyone have some suggestion for improvement?
