I hope you are having this problem in production system, If this is really a need of the hour then you can directly maintain texts in production. As it is master and also cost center so there might not be many cost centers I guess.
Go to "Maintain Master Data" and use option "Create Text" on menu bar to create relevant text for each record.
Then in parallel, you can continue to make changes for cost center text data source and have texts loaded directly from source using transformation.
In query display use key and text both to display the value and its corresponding description.
