Re 1209

I investigated the special characters (i.e., #) in address fields as well.

IRS documentation does state that Special Characters Not To Be Included in Any Data Field, which include:

-- Double Dash

# Hash Key

It also talks about Allowable Characters, such as:

& Ampersand REJECTED - & ALLOWED

' Apostrophe REJECTED - ' ALLOWED

< Less than REJECTED - < ALLOWED

We have # in a lot of our addresses

We have ' (apostrophe) in a lot of our names and addresses

We cannot attempt a 'data cleanup' as employees will just change their data again through ESS. Plus, this is a LOT of data to change and we cannot have names such as O'Leary be changed to O&aposLeary.

I am not understanding why the IRS does not follow same rules as W2's, but it does not matter what I understand.

Thus, I am going to open a HIGH ticket with SAP on addressing.

Has anyone tried editing the XML file?
